trainee, when someone crystallises their profits they do this as it is usually offset by their losses throughout the year. This is a benefit as it allows profits to be offset by losses and is not carried into the next financial year. In return they begin the new financial year with no tax to pay on their capital gains from say company (a) offset by their trades and losses from company (b)
