Yeah averaging down is a tricky one, throwing good money after bad can backfire. And how long are you willing to have capital tied up in an out of favour stock and sector. Or maybe take the contrarian view and buy into the unloved. I think Jancor takes the contrarian path in their investment style, wait for the turnaround story to be completed. Which can sometimes take years and in the case of VOC quite a few false starts along the way. I averaged down before the private equity bid and my actual average was just below the offer, I offloaded a few in the mid 3's for a profit but still have a few left over with a 3 in front of them. But I am at a bit of a crossroads now, do I start to build another position or just forget about VOC for the time being. The price region we are at now is long term support, so could maybe take out a trading parcel and exit above 2.50 (if that happens : S). Think going to wait for the dust to settle on the NZ sale and also the new CEO, these might act as a bit of a catalyst for a re-rating. Or if NZ falls through more turmoil. Putting VOC on the watch and wait list for now. I think there is an opportunity here just gotta get the timing right.
