I dont think L1 can act on behalf of another company to cap the price for a takeover. There first priority is to make returns for their investors...
They are long/short fund and generate alpha from either ends of the spectrum, in this scenario it seems they are shorting. With their new recently ipo'd fund they had to deploy $1.35bill in cash.
I dont know why you would be shorting right now in the most uncertain time where it could go sky high up and also down... but im leaning towards up especially coz of the double of resource announcement
