Right now, unless there is a deal, MDI have a resource of 537,000 oz, and a 600,000 tpa plant. That resource included open pit and underground, so it can't all be mined without a lot of work being done first. You could get a couple of years mine life out of the current resource, but if you didn't find more to replace it in that time, either by exploring or doing a deal with someone in the area, you would run out of gold and have to put the plant on care and maintenance again until you found more. They need to find more open pit gold to give them time to build the infrastructure to mine underground at Two Mile Hill.
