In the end I only held cfd's. Slowly transferred all my holdings as they cleared the capital gains tax exemption period and used my skills as a chart reader to get a better price. Took 3 years. Brokers were unclear as to exactly what they would do with them so I liquidated as soon as I could. Some were going to accept immediately and would have locked up the holding for months. Some where going to wait for the offer to go unconditional which is most likely what happened here. And what was really scary is what I would get. It was not clear if I would get cash and shares. They make the choice and I could have got all shares based on a price that they chose. Either the day before everything was finished. Or the day after on market when every one is dumping the OZL stock they don't want. Did my head in just listening and trying to figure it out. I imagine this would be super complex as well. Possibly a slush fund for arbitrage.
