Have a closer look at the Credit Suisse announcement, its dated 12th of Sep, before all the dramas...
Also if you read into it, all their substantial holding is actually 'borrowed' and they just 'borrowed' ~8.5m extra shares on the 12th of Sep which pushed their 'borrowed holding' over the 5% level for this disclosure- meaning it is likely a very big short.
CS is always playing around with MYR shares. If you look back at previous announcements, they returned a lot of shares on Sep 5 (on the announcement dated Sep 11) which got them below the 5% threshold. But after the results were released, it seemed that they borrowed a lot more shares and got themselves back up above this threshold. (If they short sold these borrowed shares they would have lost a lot of money the following day haha)
So overall, this still does not explain the mystery of our missing ~80 million shares from Thursday and Friday last week...
Also, going off the ASX borrowed share figures released today for the 13th, less than 1m shares gross were returned on the Thursday, so we will have to wait till tomorrow afternoon to see how many were returned on Friday, so yet it seems that these big volume days were not due to shorters closing their positions either...
