Same reason they were using NiCad, it's the best thing available at the moment. And dispite your insults, I agree that Li will be the best thing for a while. All I was saying was that at some point in the future there will be something better.
I have been aware of the Aluminium Air battery for a while and been watching it carefully. When electric vehicles become more mainstream and start to move into becoming the norm, then all manufacturers will be looking to increase range and reduce cost....
