Yes. The hope is you back enough of the good ones to outweigh the bad that you will almost certainly invest in. I have personally invested in quite a number of duds (all in the mining industry), but I have managed to back enough good companies that I am doing OK overall. At the very least small caps are a lot more interesting than the large ASX 200 companies - there is always some drama going on at the small end of the market.
