Playing devils advocate here.
Surely SS coming on board every time on a stock can't be this blatant symbol to the market that the stock is about to be wrecked by shorts? Seems like if it was that simple they'd know everybody panics when they take a stake and would act accordingly on it.
I have zero knowledge on this subject but it just seems to be too easy to go "oh SS have just bought I better go short or dump the stock."
