Use their tactics against them, buy with conviction and hold. Nobody's forcing you to sell and loose money, (unless you're leveraging and receive a margin call or you have stop losses in place, in which case you can only blame yourself.)
If seeing red on a fundamentally sound stock makes you sell, then maybe the stock market is not for you? These shorters mostly always win because retail investors allow them to!
