I have no issue with all the previous statements, but I think your comment is demonstrative of falling in love with the stock and losing a sense of objectivity.

I genuinely think the company is doing well and moving forward is worth holding (even adding)… but I see your statement as one that is looking for reasons to justify holding the company - in which you’ve discounted the possibility that this may not mean anything, and is just paperwork to continue/update the status quo on financial records - which suggest that even if things were going downhill, you’d be able to justify it as a significant positive.

Just saying that mindset is not helpful in remaining objective. I think for the purposes of THIS discussion, it certainly IS the point whether the share purchase is new, or if it is just update of a paper trail. A new buy at this level after the history is a significant positive, with positive uncertainty as to a takeover in addition to the vote of confidence by a major company that has multiple reasons to avoid re-taking a position.

A beaurocratic update of the financial paperwork provides nothing more than an assertion of the status quo - and is neither positive nor negative. Take it as you wish. But I disagree with your notion that the distinction is not the point. It certainly is, both semantically AND from a sense of determining if there is an increase in non-transparent value.
