Can someone differentiate between shorters and scammers other than one has the protection of the law? In my mind, both have elaborate schemes by highly organised and wealthy entities to extract money from less wealthy individuals. In the case of shorters, both the shorters and lenders profit at the expense of the smaller investor and does irreparable damage to companies, not to mention the damage done to the countries economy where we are trying to encourage investment. Surely if we are trying to encourage investment then there should be considerable reform to laws (that are now outdated) so as to combat this sycophantic practice. The proliferation of high end white collar crime is out of control - recent cases of PWC and Tax Office personnel as a couple of similar examples.
