In 2021, GRV releases advised that they expected ~150l/tonne of synthetic oil equivalent from canel coal and 690l/tonne from torbanite. They further advised that they expected to mine 700ktpa over 10 years of mine life. With a current expected recovery rate of 85%, this is about 590,000 tones of saleable product per year. C170 bitumen is currently around $1500/tonne. These are impressive numbers. Now that we are almost in to 2024, with better recoveries, longer mine life, a product Australia needs, and better pricing expected, lets hope GRV can bring this project to fruition. I think they are on track to do so.
Your comment regarding the under awareness of GRV's Alpha project is, in my view, spot on.
