All that waste has to go somewhere and there's only so many old stopes that you can realistically or practically backfill.
Anyone who actually understands just where the A1 is situated and the modern requirements for surface infrastructure, earthworks approvals etc will see the very real issues at play with this place.
It's not like the old days where you could rip, tear and clear anywhere you wanted to create your mine site footprint.
