You appear ignorant virtually the entire Japanese mag industry (virtually the entire ex China mag industry) is dependent Lynas, after 14 years nurturing that supply source, soon to include Tb/Dy, you think they are going to allow it to slip thru their fingers in favour of a US company very heavily dependent on China???
Like to think Aust Govt wasn't entirely that stupid, to let Lynas's massive IP advantage slip thru its fingers, particularly after the effort Lynas went to to keep it out of the hands of the USG.
As to Gina's play would appear a huge punt on the development of ex China downstream mag manufacture fairly rapidly this decade, without that there simply is no market for the planned production from her grab bag of assets.
Given TO's generally based on sum of the parts it's difficult to see where MP would add any value to Lynas, particularly given totally different ore body, Lynas has built out sufficient C&L capacity balance of decade, MP adds zero SX IP, they are miles behind, zero mktg expertise (perhaps excluding China), and Lynas has already cracked US with by far the largest USG subsidy.
Although the news is certainly going to spice up coming QR.
