Correct me if I’m wrong, from my limited understanding…. State street just lend out their shares (and receive fees/interest) the borrowers can short or long them believing the stock will go up or down… however the shares still sit on state street books… meaning they need to be bullish in the bigger picture…
State street probably (like a well oiled bookie) hedges through placing long or short positions themselves to negate any potential losses.
Unfortunately all this causes volatility.
like others have said in the above posts… this could be opportunity… the company has just become unhedged, and should easily be able to fully fund their growth story moving fwd, and who knows in time even McPhillamys…
