Come on people! If an insto wanted to short they would do a stock borrow from one of the many nom accounts holding shares. Happy to be corrected, but how would an insto make money going long between 30-40c and then using their own long to sell short. That’s not my understanding of the workings of such trades. Also worth noting long / short funds take bullish longs too and don’t just short the crap out of everything. They do all sorts of strategies both hedged and not. This looks like a vanilla bullish long to me based on the trade history in the notice. That’s not to say they theoretically couldn’t lend their stock out to someone else. As could one of the other nom accounts. Mind you, the current open short position on WTM is next to nothing.
