Hi pb …. All those shares bought by index funds last Friday for the rebalance
(the lion’s share of total 70,000,000 volume or about 6% of Spartan?) did not come from nowhere - so I assume the sales were prearranged from a variety of different sources who all agreed to that $1.385 Friday average price ?
… And I assume whichever entities sold might (at least some) want their shares back…. But at a cheaper price?
Meanwhile the index funds will be prepared to sit for a while before they do any trading, or are *not* traders…. So they won't release their ~6% easily.
Which leads me to wonder if shorts will increase on the premise that some market makers won’t be wanting the price to get away before they have had the chance to restock.
….. Is that logical or am I missing something about these fund rebalances?
