What are you basing the "patent" timeline on?
A headline & paragraph in NVX 2020 annual report or the actual grant of a patent?
Spent a fair bit of time this past weekend to find that answer out researching the Patent Offices in this regard (as well as sending an email to Dr.CB for specifics). Found some patent applications (and what looks like a 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 yr timeframe from application to grant) but nothing to say NVX has a patent. Lots of competing companies with competing patents (both granted and applied).
Not that a patent is a necessary pre-condition to license another entity to use one's proprietary technology. If we truly have a better mousetrap they will come ... but one would have to watch the wolf pack carefully as can't imagine CATL et.al would just lie down and pay for the privilege.
