Berkeley Energia Hasn't Received Formal Notice for Mine Approvals

Berkeley Energia Ltd. (BKY.AU) said Friday that despite recent media reports, it has received no formal notice regarding potential approvals for its proposed uranium mine near Salamanca, Spain.On Thursday, Reuters reported that Spain's Nuclear Safety Council had approved two intermediate steps regarding Berkeley's application to construct an open-pit uranium mine.The mine, which will be Europe's only open-pit uranium project, has faced opposition from groups who fear such a mine could damage the local environment.Berkeley Energia said it will provide more information if and when a formal notice is received.
