What I see is going on is that with the big fall in the gold price last night the day traders are shorting the stock.
See below how they do it via CXA (not on the ASX). They go and up tick with a buy of 100 shares. Then immediately with a long line of sell trades wipe out the 24c bids to push the share price down. It's been happening most of today. At some stage they close the sell trades they made at a higher price for a day trade profit. It works when a stock has exhausted its buying power and the sell traders are in charge to make a quick profit.
