I think it is wise to consider the results of what may come from the partnership rather than the partnership itself. The results are likely to be some further, but accelerated exploration. CBE have been chosen amoung the applicants for their submission that appears promising to BHP.
In short, BHP are just paying someone to do the exploration for them, and they get to choose out of all the applicants the best. This is smart work from BHP as it would have cost many fold more to have covered all the ground that the applicants have made. Now they get the pick of it for a mere 500k.
Naturally, CBE benefit too.
