Take a look at the price differential between thermal the semi-soft met coal they produce - there isn't much of a difference (chart below from SMR September quarterly production report). This is nothing new in the coal industry and practically the whole Hunter Valley switches between thermal and SSCC as product depending on current best margin from product (e.g. Coal & Allied in particular).
Essentially from a product "price" perspective, they are closer to a thermal producer and hence the correlation to thermal coal price of share price.
