I completely get what you are saying and I do not think every business out there will ask their customers to do a video review. I'm just thinking of a few businesses/business owners that I know personally and if they asked a customer that is also their friend to do a video review the customer would jump at the chance to give something back. Why would the business ask them? Because it helps their business.
A built a website for a customer a few months ago and the only thing they really cared about was making sure that the testimonials were on the new site. So some business owners take it very seriously and I do find it's more of the service based businesses where a good review will often determine whether someone will use the service or not. This is just my experience and I'm grateful that you took the time to share your experiences. It's very insightful.
