Agrimin [ASX:AMN], the emerging Australian sulphate of potash (SOP) producer, could consider taking a joint venture (JV) partner and offering equity to potential offtakers to help finance its 100%-owned USD 415m Mackay potash project, CEO Mark Savich said.The Perth-based AUD 113m (USD 87.5m) market capitalization company could also consider taking a strategic partner on board, which would want to invest at the corporate level, to help finance the project, Savich told Mergermarket, without elaborating.Earlier this week, Agrimin signed a 10-year offtake deal with Sinochem Fertiliser Macao, a subsidiary of Sinofert Holdings [HKEX:00297], which covers distributing its SOP to China. According to the CEO, the Sinofert deal has significantly increased the corporate appeal of both Agrimin and the project.Apart from the latest deal, which does not include an equity portion, the company is willing to consider other offtake deals that include equity stakes in the Western Australia-based Mackay asset, he said,He did not comment on how much of a stake could be on offer, for either a JV partner or an offtake partner.“We are aiming to secure a minimum of two-thirds of our planned production under binding offtake, however, [we are] also open to securing offtake for our entire production if the arrangements are commercial for us,” he said.
