Taking over the entire cow, than having just a litre of milk, they are the ones with the deepest pockets, and when you want to ensure growth in your valuation , you need to acquire the IP with the longest tentacles.

How does a Major grow its value proposition to its own shareholders ? it needs to secure its market share of an industry. It cant allow a competitor to take us over. Our pesticide IP is a sixth spoke, in very limited new mode of actions that need to be augmented in combination with existing chemistry, to prevent resistance to a single chemistry.

We have what comes along only in a couple of decades typically. That new mode of action to fight insects.
Think how rare that is. Then put a price tag, on what it is worth to BASF to secure it.

The re-rate, is an equation of who is here for the 200-500-1$billion price tag, and who is here to trade in the scraps.
