the actual chip design ? the schematics are done with design software like Cadence or Synopsys. AXE has already designed and fabricated the channels in which the gFET sensors sit. They would have also roughly designed where the rest of the componentry and logic gates, power buses would be, in other words the housing of the gFETs within a silicon base with electronic circuitry around it. Entire design is done with software, so all the foundry needs is the design file from AXE. Upload it to their system and produce some samples on a single wafer. And yes, you're correct in calling these foundries 'partners'. AXE being a fabless semiconductor company will have to form partnerships with everyone who builds this out. We don't share our trade secrets with just anyone.
