It depends whether the milestone payment is to cover trial costs, presumably MSD will be contributing and the payment may be used for other purposes.
From AGM We anticipate that MSD will initiate the first clinical trial, thereby triggering a significant milestone payment to Bionomics under our 2014 License and Research Collaboration Agreement. As a reminder that agreement could see Bionomics receive up to US$506 million in upfront, research and milestone payments in addition to royalties on net sales of licensed products. We hope that this first milestone will be the first of many!
