So I decided to crunch some numbers. 5 patients did the full trial with 100% success rate. The normal drugs for treating Hep C that were part of the trial (IFN/RBV) were mentioned to have a 68.8% success rate on their own in Thailand (it's more like 75% - 80% success rate elsewhere). The chance of 5 patients all having success at 68.8% is a 15.4% chance (if the trial was done elsewhere it would be more like 32% chance). So in other words, there's a 15.4% chance the BIT225 did nothing and it was just the standard drugs doing all the work.
So yeah, I dunno. Certainly needs further study, this study alone just isn't enough to conclusively say this drug works or not. Not trying to downramp or anything, just doing the numbers since I don't see any posts doing that.
