Vietnam has a special tax regime (that is corporate income tax, thus before export tax) for mineral resources companies up to 50% (source: latest KPMG country tax report). It depends on the resoure, ad they change those rates a lot, so imho Blackstone needs a ruling of some sorts, for a long term tax rate. On the sulphate plant they probably are eligable for the standard CIT rate that is much lower. But the latter is just my guess.
That is why I assume they will get a local partner in as well (Vingroup). Asia is NOT nice for foreign companies, and once you have invested in mine and plant you have nowhere to go.
That is why I asked for clarification beyond the export tax quote, and got no answer.
