Not fit for purpose does not mean the product has failed. This sounds like a contractual failure. A mis understanding of what the product would do and not do. Sounds like some additional functionality is required which will be added to rectify to comply with contractual requirements.
not good news, but fixable. Need to be a lot more vigilant on the technical aspects contractually entered into.
At least the share price wont drop!!
