Long time ago worked at a facility that produced a heavy crude from offshore with ESP lift (submersable pumps) most it ever produced was 12,000 bopd.
They did this for almost 15years made shiploads of coin even with the high cost of all the equipment & infrastructure that goes with offshore ops.
Gas lift, water jet or good old Donkey pumps won't matter how it comes out, will they need more hole's hell yes but it's onshore and shallow so lower cost.
Plus side is labour cost low which is a big player especially later on in field life. IMO lot's of money to be made here in Cuba.
No choice now but to hitch the wagons and saddle up for the ride, well unless you want to bail before next drill?
