This isn't too uncommon. I think there is precedence in Marti-5 that intersected and tested the same prospect. The assumption was over balanced drilling causing formation damage but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a similar issue. The company should seek out an experienced reservoir engineer to get an extra view on what went wrong and remedies going forward.
I would like to see what controls the company had and see the volume of mud etc that went into the well. I think that maybe the company needed a few more feet on the ground dealing with contractors.
