Here's my take:
Issue - blocked pipe
Solution 1 - hopefully this works for us
Chemistry - various acids, etc - to dissolve the blockage
But how much does this cost? how quickly can this be effective? what's the likelihood of success?
Solution 2
Drill a sidetrack
Pull back to a point before the blockage - and redrill a new section
Bigger delay, more expense...
Solution 3
Abandon hole and start a new one
Major setback...
