Contamination WILL alter the API - it could work both ways. If the contaminant is of a higher density it will increase the apparent density of the oil and decrease the API gravity. And if contaminant is of a lower density - increase the API gravity.

Now if the upper sheet is at 19API I don't think we are talking about a contaminant which is lower in density....I'd say just hang on for now, lets see what the final lab analysis says, and/or if/when we revisit Marti and get a clean sample from a flow test...lets see what the analysis tells us.
