Thsnks for such a thorough response. I understand that development always takes time; as an English gentleman I understand that. I have a development and research background but in this case (as i understand it) the dual n wave (tunnel junction) laser was demonstrated some time ago and can't understand why you consider it to be at least 2 years away. I understand that shareholders may not understand the full complications of advancement to a pre-production stage when it has been demonstrated already as a viable product (and patented). I guess my issue is that this would immediately demonstrate a leap over the competition not withstanding that incremental advances could still be made later. I also understand that issues like form factor etc are also important and give us a niche but these are still less important than a considerable leap forward in efficiency that would place us at the front of development and really give our competition a headache. We could then do the development on form factor etc but at that stage we would be ahead of the curve. Maybe you could explain why the duel n wave device would take at least 2 years to hit the market as a viable product - i don't understand this.
In addition I don't understand why we give much attention to "niche" applications (e.g. limbs and quantum computing) as you say these are marginal markets or at least something for the next decade (e.g quantum computing) and may never happen or totally different technology (i.e silicon based rather than laser). To me the focus should be on welding which is a mass market which John Paul would appear to fully understand and have an edge. Another mass market could also be sterilization of water and communication; really why do we bother with fringe applications which may be very "worthy" but are unlikely to be transformational to our "bottom line", which is what we now need.
