FOB is common practice in bulk shipping and is relevant to the Stevedoring agreements made to today. The only missing cost at this point is the cost from site to port (trucking in containers as V has mentioned). Guaranteed there will be contracts put in place for this as well. Best to control the local costs from this end....beyond the port needs to be the client - unless you have a great contracts administrator who knows how to deal with the shipping companies and get a great deal from shipment to shipment - better to just sell the product and get it to the ship - in simple terms.
FYI, had 27 years Logistics background including 10 International Freight forwarding and 2 years bulk shipping of minerals sands from Bunbury, WA.
