It seems obvious they stuffed up with Nifty - the people on the ground when MLX took over ie mining engineers would have had access to underground lay out very quickly so why wasn't the obvious noticed and why did it take so long to re-set chewing through valuable dollars leading to this CR and the loss of sp.
If they mine the new areas then they should avoid the issues within the historic area that looks like Swiss cheese but this should have been obvious at the start that the old area had been heavily wormed through making life very difficult for continuing mining in the old areas due to ground stability issues ie not removing critical areas that could see a deck of cards collapsing scenario.
If they have worked out how to avoid the historical area via this re-set then mining new areas seems to me to make sense.
