We mined a very small section right at the end of the 8 level which is the level they took all the rails out of .In total we probably took 250 tonnes out .With a small parcel closer to the addit which would have been approx 50 tonnes .
The first parcel we took to Australia was 20 tonnes all hand picked and put into 44 gallon drums . Very high grade material .That went to a mill in Castlemaine in Victoria.The second lot was approx 220 tonnes which was loaded in to containers in Tauranga and shipped to Singapore then back to Freo ,on a truck to the rail depot then railed to Kalgoorlie .From there it was trucked to a mill in Coolgardie for treatment .We received a price of around $400 and ounce back then .It had the locals in the Pub talking about these Kiwis bringing ore all the way from NZ
And yes it was economical even at those prices .I don,t think any ore from the Waihi area has ever reached 10,000 grams
