White monkey...........hope you shed more light on this as I will be very interested in our geology and what we understand from historic work to what can be achieved with newer technology
terima kasih banyak
Geology and mineralisation:
Regional setting
Located in the world class Northern Chilean Atacama IOCG region that hosts both high grade vein style IOCG deposits of copper and gold with some associated lower grade large tonnage deposits (ie Candelaria, Mantoverde).
Ore deposits in the region are typically vertically zoned with near surface oxide ore (consisting of cuprite, covellite, chryscolla, malachite, atacamite and iron oxides) zoning into a weak secondary enriched zone and the lower parts of deposits consist of primary ore of chalcopyrite, Chalcocite, bornite, pyrite, andmagnetite/hematite.
El Roble is believed to be formed during the Lower Cretaceous and is part of the youngest deposit types in the region.
Attractive geology and mineralisation
The Project tenements cover an area dominated by dioritic plutonic rocks and numerous faults hosting IOCG style copper dominant mineralisation. The main NE trending fault system is believed to be related to the Atacama fault system a major control to other IOCG deposits in the region.
The project area mineralisation consists of sets of quartz/calcite veins and tabular breccia bodies consisting of quartz and hematite which are emplaced in the dioritic intrusive rocks. To date orebodies have been identified in three predominant directions:
A number of small underground mines also exist on the property the main areas being Panga, Rincon, Viuda, Chica and Estaca.
- Tabular veins and breccias trending NE/SW and dipping sub vertically to moderately dipping to the north west. These structural systems are strike extensive with some individual (ie Panga) structures being easily traceable for over 6km strike length. Thickness varies from 0.5m to over 15m.
- Sets of NNW striking quartz hematite veins dipping steeply NE
- Quartz /Calcite veins and breccias up to 3m in thickness trending nearly east west and dipping steeply north or vertical. Strike extent in individual veins is over 1,000m in some cases. El Algarrobo and El Roble mines have been exploited on these veins and to over 400m depth in the case of El Algarrobo.
Copper and gold mineralised alteration haloes sometimes up to 5m from the vein wall have also been described. Historic reports indicate that between 1850 and 1900 approximately 500kt of ore was extracted from El Algarrobo at over 9% Cu (9% was the direct smelter ore cut off for the British miner) with grades up to 20% reported from parts of the oxide orebody.
