As I see it the $AUD is in a cyclical devaluation, caused by lower Commodity price expectations - which is in turn is caused by lower global and chinese growth expectations.
When the $AUD is expected to fall further, other countries sell down their $AUD investments and place their funds elsewhere.
Comparative country interest rate expectations also play their part - if Australia has finished raising, and other countries have higher - or expected higher final rates, that is another reason for our currency to decline.

Alkane is worth more than our current price IMO, but until our shareholders stabilise, we may see further unhappy downward movement.
