15 years in the trading game and I too got burnt by this by:
1). Skimming the announcement, instead of putting my usual rigour/checks when I read and going back through the old announcements.
2). Just doing a quick check on M/Cap in relation to the cash in the bank and thought it was at an ok ratio.
3). Not quickly doing a background check on management and their historical performance.
4). Trying to trade the trade and got bluffed by the inflated buy side upon pre open.
Sitting on a nice paper loss and had to move other stocks around to now hold this dog. Not a good feeling and only myself to blame.
