Are you serious? A placebo is a nothing, used to work to prove that a bit of positive or wishful thinking was not the main cause of the patients improved symptoms. In cases where you are measuring things such as pain levels, itch levels a patient could feel better because they simply think it is working. Wishful thinking isn’t going to improve acne. Something has been stuffed up if the placebo has caused a 40% improvement. As a former sufferer of severe acne, who originally tried Topex and Clearasil both of which did nothing but leave my face dry and itchy, I would have given anything for a topical that reduced my acne by 40% because wishful thinking wouldn’t do it!
