Actually China is currently looking around the world for coal like this due to its rapidly increasing demand, as sulphur reduction in power plants is very well advanced with huge technological improvements with additives and scrubbers.
Coal Trader (25-Aug-11 By Bob Matyi Some "large players" in China are showing stepped-up interest in buying high-sulfur coal produced in Illinois, Bill Hoback, deputy director of the Illinois Office of Coal Development, said earlier this week. Although Illinois does not currently export any coal to China, Hoback said in an interview Tuesday that could change if the recent feelers his office is receiving are translated into actual sales agreements. "We're getting more interest from China about buying Illinois coal," he said. "In the last week, we've got very focused about people calling about coal availability." Hoback refused to identify the potential purchasers except to describe them as "their large players." One call came from an unidentified Chinese municipality, he confirmed. "They've been building a lot of power plants," he said about the Chinese.
