Survey highlights potential supersize for Resolution’s 64North project

Special Report: Resolution’s hunt for the next ‘Pogo’ gold deposit has received support from a survey that identified new drill targets and extensions of historical prospect.

The coincident anomaly and potential extensions at the Boundary Prospect in the East Pogo block of the company’s 64North project in Alaska were identified by a CSAMT geophysics survey over historical high-grade drill intersections of up to 35 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

Importantly, Resolution Mineral’s (ASX:RML) Boundary is located on the Pogo Trend between Northern Star’s Pogo Gold Mine and the recent discovery by Tectonic Metals at the Tibbs Project.

    And there is more.

The same survey has also identified a new, larger target 2.2km long and 1.5km wide about 900m to the southwest of historical drilling.

Surface rock chip sampling over this new target has identified sulphide bearing quartz boulders with assay results expected in late October, which will allow the company to prioritise drilling targets for the 2021 summer season.

“Identification of new drill targets and extensions of historic prospects using modern geophysics demonstrates the camp scale potential for the region and how highly prospective and under explored the 64North Project remains,” managing director Duncan Chessell said.

    Gold-rich trend

Boundary is 26km along strike from Pogo and 11km northwest of the Tibbs project where recent drilling returned a top result of 9.14m at 6.71g/t gold from 102m including 3.05m at 19.3g/t gold from 107m.

As with Pogo, the geology is dominated by paragneiss and orthogneiss, intruded by biotite rich granites and diorite and the paleodepth is interpreted to be close to that of Pogo.

Historical surface geochemistry at Boundary includes a >100 parts per billion gold broad soil anomaly that is marked by multiple high-grade rock chips of up to 24.85g/t gold.

The company noted that while subsequent historical diamond holes intersected gold, they were not oriented, which means that the strike and dip of the mineralised veins is unknown.

This provides the opportunity for Resolution’s drilling to test and define the structures controlling the late fault vein mineralisation along strike from high-grade gold intersections.

    Drilling hits encouraging quartz vein

Last week, the company intersected an encouraging 7m quartz vein from 488m within a 22m zone of intense sulphides, alteration and quartz veining from 476m at the Aurora prospect.

Selective samples have been submitted on priority order with results expected in less than one month.

Chessell noted that while the presence of gold would not be known until the assays are returned, Pogo-style systems can have large variations in grade and vein thickness within short distances.

This makes it important to drill more holes into the area to test for grade variation, lateral extents of the vein and possible stacked sets nearby.

Resolution is currently planning to drill a fan of holes from the same drill pad as the hole where the quartz vein was intersected.

Aurora is road accessible, which allows for year-round drilling.
