There's definitely some issues with integrity of "some papers", but unless you can define with solid evidence that this challenge applies to "most papers" then I think you're probably having a lend of yourself.
The problem with some folks is they panic at the first sign of trouble and fall for the old 'world is ending' trap. Define the problem with root cause facts and then apply a conclusion, not define the problem with anecdotes and draw a weak assertion. The latter leads to misconstrued realities easily dismissed with a question similar to that posed in the first sentence.
As far as I can tell, the complex technological and scientific world isn't burning down and continues to function relatively well despite some challenges. I trust the Telco to deliver my call, the ISP to carry my data, the Doctor to diagnose my illness, the Airlines to deliver me safely, etc.,etc.... a significantly high percentage of the time. You get the picture. The probability is overwhelming.
