I well remember longing for my home loan or car loan would fall to 5%. In the era of 13- 25% home loans and personal loans, such low rates were only dreamt of.
That is not to dismiss the pain about to be felt by the overcommitted, but rather to add perspective to the current historically low rates which have prevailed far longer than many expected. The interest holiday we have enjoyed in recent years is a far cry from the 30year average of 5.45%
