Gas from overseas will not be cheaper than gas from pep11.
Are the countries you say that do not have gas, manufacturers?
Gas is needed to make plastics, fertalizers, glass, urea, hydrogen etc.
You will find with power generation, countries less reliant on gas use nuclear power generation.
In 3 years, Victoria's otway basin ceases gas production, that supply loss needs to be replaced.
In 15 years plus gas less needed for power as 40gw of batteries installed to smooth out supply.
At the moment, there are many days when wind and solar does not generate enough, as coal closes, we replace coal generated capacity with gas capacity.
Later use gas resources for hydrogen. No co2 if it is used solely for hydrogen.
On a national security level, gas is a critical resource, if a war occurs shipping channels get cut.
No fuel we cease to run as a nation. Easily overwhelmed by an adversary. We would be done in a few days.
