actually what your cafe has, is likely an agreement with their bank via a merchant service provider. This is completely different but you know that. For that privilege your cafe pays a margin of every sale to the merchant who passes most of it on to visa or MasterCard or whoever owns the card that made the transaction. And that is why your cafe would prefer you pay with cash (in normal non covid times). Unless their bank has upped their cash handling fees, which is a high possibility.
