I have been reading as much as I can about GDPR and for anyone interested the following link is an interesting starting point.

    https://www.dlapiper.com/de/middleeast/focus/eu-data-protection-regulation/key-changes/

It is a long article and very dry but it highlights the complexities of GDPR for companies and individuals.  This complexity has to be mastered given the extraordinary fines that can and are being applied.

I would suspect that it will take a long time for individual companies to come to grips with compliance due to the complexity and the need to upgrade existing technology.

SRO appears to be ahead of the game in an enormous market but if you take the time to try and understand GDPR being ahead of the game is only one part.  The most important part for SRO is to get it right and be seen to get it right.

To this end the advisory board that has been set up is in my opinion SRO's true advantage.

For at least the following three reasons:

    1. Under GDPR every organisation has to employ a DPO (Data Protection Officer).

    2. A GDPR  DPO is a highly specialised position and there is a shortage of appropriately qualified people however while this officer can be an employee the requirement can also be satisfied by appointing an outside organisation such as SRO.

    3. Data protection insurance is available and being recommended to companies as a necessary protection in the event of breaching GDPR.

If and when SRO fully releases its commercial product to the market if it is released with the full and complete endorsement of the current advisory board (which clearly is made up of the leading experts on data privacy from around the world) then it will have the opportunity to be the gold standard and properly marketed as such to insurers and could become the basis for an insurer offering coverage at reasonable premiums.

First question by an insurer, "Who is your Data Protection Officer?"
    Answer, "SRO."

Additionally because of the enormous reach of the GDPR enforcement and supervision of compliance will also be a major issue for companies but again when the compliance officer turns up to do the audit if SRO has got it right and has this endorsement simply saying we use SRO could be the rubber stamp making everyone's lives easy.

Will they get it right no idea but if they do....

This of course is my opinion only and you should do your own research.
